People all react in different ways, the way people are treated when they post will in time influence how they react as they get used to the forum, it's part of being part of it... but to ostracise someone who doesn't immediately appear to empathise with the group's way of seeing things isn't welcoming to the individual.
Getting used to people is a two way thing. I still shudder thinking about some of the things said to MDB and Matthew when they first joined. Someone living on their own should be welcomed here regardless of whether their opinion fits comfortably with others, over time what initially may appear to be rudeness may become appreciated for what it is, plain speaking, and be none the worse for it.
