Has anyone been on one of the (£8) public site tours yet ?
Is it worth 2 hours of my time, or does it look like just another building site ?

Do people actually do this? ;)

OTH if you got a job as a brikkie, plumber or sparks you could do the tour and get paid at the same time..........

A couple of weeks ago I got the highspeed train into Stratford International and then a free shuttle bus to the underground/Jubilee line through the building site....

Don't pay £8!

My geography teacher new somebody or other and we got a tour round the site aaages ago. We all considered ourselves to be really lucky. I managed to be in that rsemi conscious state where you are desperately trying to stay awake, head bobbing like a churchill dog, can't keep eyes open. As soon as we left I was fully awake - oops.

Managed to remember some parts though...i.e. the velodrome ;)

Do you mean one of these London Tours ?

My cousin is visiting in a few weeks and she is a keen cyclist and athlete, and I bet she would love to see inside the Olympic venues, especially the Velodrome.

Did you go on the tour in the end? If so, what did you think?

£8 doesn't seem all that much, as we are in London anyway. It would be rubbish if it rained though...

Hang about - we, the taxpayer have to pay for a tour around something we, the taxpayer paid for out of our taxes??? Am I missing something here?

Barnet,
I went on one of the tours last year, and to be honest it wasn't really worth it. There were many places you couldn't go because of the work going on, and there was nothing new to be added than you can get off the news or web sites.

I noticed several of these tours last month. Close inspection shows that none of the ones I looked at actually enter the building site. Therefore, the best view you can get will be, as dellzegg said, from the View Tube. It is free and you can get a decent cup of coffee which you look, although service can be a bit slow.

Only Londoners are paying taxes to support the games.

38p a week, for the largest urban park in Europe for 150 years and a shift in the balance of London.

pity that the aquatics, velodrome and stadium are only going to be accesible to elite athletes after the games. all of the Host boroughs shelved plans for new pools /refurbs on the promise of acces to the aquatics. now its unlikely non elite will get the chance , which is a huge shame as there are numerous under 18 swimming clubs which would benefit from the use of decent facilities, hey maybe even provide swimmers for 2016 or 2020 olympics.

save the £8. i work there and its a building site whatever way you look at it.
