Looks good for me getting the day off. Who's starting at East Croydon, that's the only viable option for me....?

Would this be a ride that I could extend an invitation out to?

It's open to anyone and everyone. The more the merrier as the old saying goes.
It's not an organised ride as such, just that a few Cycle Chatters and other groups meeting up to follow the cars.

Certainly it is. What sort of ride would they expect? I ask because this annual thread is more a suggestion that it is a great ride to do, than an organised ride. Although I propose a starting time, and meeting times along the way, it often becomes a fairly lose affair, with people riding at different paces rather than as a group, especially if they want a faster pace.
If anyone wants to ride in a group, that is also fine and I am more than happy to guide that at the pace of the slowest.

Most gracious! I would be suggesting it to someone who has just done the Palace to Palace, but I wouldn't be suggesting that it was akin to say, an FNRTTC, with the expectation that the ride would be around 5 hours or so, and to expect some decent hills.

Its a ride where the vehicles rightly set the pace. Some of us can chase down the fast ones, all of us can follow/overtake/chat to the slower or broken ones. Turn back when you want. This ride has one great attribute. It is the very best way you can enjoy the Rally and all those stonking (or should that be stinking?) vehicles. Beats just tspectating from the side of the road.

Indeed enjoying the spectators and some of the informal specialist car clubs that lurk in country lay-bys along the route. You can turn back when you wish. If you have ever enjoyed Genevieve then you must do this before you die.

Can't get a train to Victoria or Clapham Junction that day .
That's odd (and a shame). Assuming you're travelling up from the south coast, the National Rail website is giving quite a few options (although a bit early in the day). Of course I could be missing something blindingly obvious.

So, no Brixton Hill, Streatham, Croydon or Coulsden this year. Is East Croydon station still the best place to meet?
Hmm, I have joined the CC contingent at East Croydon station before but later tried joining the convoy itself as it came through Norbury on the A23, much preferred that. Sounds like neither will be an option this year? Hmmm. Hmmm.

ETA: Oh, I see they're coming down the A24. That suits me fine. If I come out for this, I'll nip over to Balham or Colliers Wood. :okay:
