Louis Garneau from Evanscycles are another option. The Copal Performance shoe comes in under budget (in white, dearer in black and red!) and has a ratchet top fastening as opposed to velcro on many others.

Any reason why your ditching spds ?. i get one fine with them even on long rides.

I got a pair of North wave sonic last year for about £60, they're good shoes. Avoid the sonic 2, it's basically the same shoe with the addition of a single dial closure but at nearly double the price.
