Looked a great bike until....

I was down at my LBS yesterday and one of these was on the stand being serviced:

Mentioned to the mechanic what a nice tidy bike it looked, his reply was that it was disappointingly heavy. However I see that there are four in this range with improving levels of equipment. Has anybody ridden one?

A friend of mine has the Team version and it's a great bike to ride (the 10 or so miles I've done on it) although he did have a lot of problems with the rear disk brake sticking when he first got it.

23.8 lbs disappointingly heavy. For an entry level hybrid? Does he normally service helium balloons?
