Looking for a better water bottle holder for my Brompton

I've decided my current water bottle holder could be better. It mounts to the stem with a big Velcro strap and doesn't stay in place very well. I've been looking at Monkii and similar but they seem way too expensive. Quick release would be nice but not essential. I'm thinking a stem mount would be preferable. With or without integrated cage, it doesn't matter. Does anyone have a water bottle cage mount they could recommend?

Thanks and Merry Christmas (or whatever your preferred mode of celebration is)

PS. Topeak has one that looks like a candidate. Does anyone have experience with it?

I have one similar to this...

It works well. If I release the velcro, when I fold the bars down the bottle stays upright so doesn't leak. Also has room for other bits + bottle.

Had a mount like that Topeak. Works great, can reorient the mount 90° too. A little time consuming to mount. Don't know if it would get in the way of the fold.

I recommend any Molle water bottle pouch attached with two, preferably stainless steel, hose clamps to the stem. Currently I use Maxpedition AGR, but an under $10 (SH included) pouch off Ebay will do fine. The pouch flattens, so will have no impact on the folded size in any tight space.

Those are solid enough but the way its designed the cage and bottle then sit a long way off the tube its mounted to.

The Elite plastic band-on bosses work well but you have to keep a cage on them at all times, or they ping off. For occasional use, they're therefore not ideal.

Personally I do not need a permanent bottle cage permanently mounted on the Brompton. In the past I tried a removable adapter from SKS that I put onto the stem but did not find it totally convincing in practice: https://www.sks-germany.com/en/products/adapter/
As I typically ride with a bag on the carrier block I simply store the bottle in one of the small rear bags of either T-bag, S-bag or Carradice-bag or in the side pockets of a carradice saddle bag. I did buy a cheap soft bottle bag/holder to be mounted on stem and bar via velcro a while ago, I think it may have been this from PlanetX: https://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/CCPODSBB/podsacs-stem-bottle-bag At least it was something very similar. Works, but also not totally convincing as grabbing the bottle out of it and storing it back while riding is a bit uncomfy. Still I do use it sometimes.

I have a smallish bag attached to the saddle, but big enough for a 2 walled stainless steel bottle or two, a light jacket, phone, wallet and tool roll. I like the saddle bag because it doesn't have much, if any, aero drag. If bigger loads are needed I have some bags for the front luggage block, including the Brompton big shopping bag, but it definitely slows me down with a stout headwind.

I did buy a Monkii Clip and bottle.

Worked well, but TBH I prefer to just have my camelback. As I use the Brompton to commute, I need a rucksack anyway.

The good thing about them though is that the whole thing unclips when the bike is folded so you can put the bottle on the other way up and it doesn’t leak. Needs to be mounted off to the right so as not to foul the fold.

In doing so however, I found it caught the brake cables a bit.

For a while I used it with a modified bottle to carry a battery for a cheapo Chinese CREE light.
