Cheers mate, like you say hopefully in time it will improve, a bonus would be some positive progress from my solicitors. Hopefully be hearing from them soon though.

planned to clean and lube bike for 2012 s first commute. Ran out of time doing other things at home so just dolloped some lube on the chain and mechs and will do a full clean and lube on it tonight. the ride in was "interesting" with headwinds at 45 degrees from both left and right as the wind gusted. ride home should be good for a speedy one

I'm not looking forward to the return journey. But I'm sure once I'm into it I'll change my mind. I don't mind getting soaked on the way back home, it's just on the way in to work it can be a bit of a bugger.

Bought myself a half decent exercise bike over crimbo to help offset the 'mince pie' effect on my fitness/fatness... done well over 100km the past three days although stationary ha! ^_^ - Hopefully this mornings commute after two weeks of loafing around won't be too traumatic!

The return leg was dry, so that was an unexpected bonus.

My shoulder is still painfull at times. Was doing some DIY over the festive season, using a screwdriver was causing pain had to resort to the cordless drill. Carrying heavy items causes pain in my shoulder still. Still causing discomfort at night. I resorted to buying a memory foam mattress to try and help with it. My only option is surgery, but I don't want to go under the knife. The only problems with cycling is if I get out the saddle and go for it, I feel it then or if I'm riding for a long period. It's just something I'll have to put up with. I won't let it keep me from cycling, it's the only thing that keeps me sane.

I'm still there 3 years and surgery with my shoulder. Can't sleep on it - if I sleep on the right side, I have to prop the left up. Even our expensive bed doesn't help (that the missus bought after my injury) ! Climbing/sprinting cause pain on the bike, and long rides. Weight bearing is painful. Sounds similar ?

What's the specialist say is still wrong ? - I had a decompression, some work around the A/C joint and the bicep sling tendon tidied up - the pain specialist thinks this (tendon) still might be an issue and might need removing and screwing back in lower down - no ta.

With regards to the solicitor - it's not going to move for some time as you'll need the injuries establishing, and long term prognosis. Glad you are on the bike though.

The docs just said the last time if I was still getting pain and discomfort then I could have surgery, but they seem to think it will heal on it's own. All be it the clavicle will remain dislocated, but ligaments will heal with scar tissue. If they operate they'll screw it back in line, then remove the screws once healed. I think they would reattach the ligaments at the same time. But I really don't want an op.

Bike got a serious pre-commute fettle last night. Chain off and into the white spirit, jockey wheels off, cleaned, and greased until they ran smoothly, tyres pumped up, deraileur oiled until it ran properly, frame cleaned. Chain put back on, and oiled.

Not feeling 100% at the moment (slight cold), but had to ride in this morning. And it felt good. Very good!
Bike was running nicely too.

I have a slight cold but I think it is more related to drinking too much, for me that is, over the long weekend whilst celebrating new year.

So it's you pair spreading the lurgy. I managed to avoid it all over Christmas while others were coming down with it. Woke up with a sore throat that's gradually getting worse. And that sudden I'll feeling you get is descending my body. This is the last thing I need when just starting back commuting.
