I am in Swansea, so used to having rain continuously. I hope those London folk enjoyed their wet trip back this afternoon, after throwing away their lead for the second time this week... ;)

As far as clothing is concerned, I had a soft shell fronted jacket on. Best of both worlds really, as rain does run off nicely, even if not actually waterproof, but chest vents cooled me down too.

My mate had a waterproof over jacket on, but he was fed up of the flapping, so into his jacket pocket it went.

Not a big fan of riding in the rain. I didn't mind it in the past but last year, I rode the Cycletta New Forest 50 mile event with @Hill Wimp and @London Female and we were soaked and cold despite having waterproofs. My knee was nagging too, which didn't help. Glad I finished the ride but it took me over 2 hours to warm up again. It was about then that I went off the rain.
Getting caught in a shower on the way home is OK, I don't deliberately go out in it though.
Brilliant day with @Saluki and @London Female. If it's already raining i tend to not go out unless i have to but if you get caught en route, well, it happens and you just get on wth it. If you are with some mates then just stop for a cuppa or a drink and share your soggy feet stories. C'est la vie or sh*te happens.

and i'm a female southern softie:thumbsup:

I went on the ride as I didn't want to let you and and @London Female down. Interestingly, she said the same thing :laugh:Had we known that 30 miles earlier, we could have repaired to the pub.

I've cycled through that with wellies on... and the water almost up to the top of my wellies on the down-pedal! It's a couple of miles from my house. And they want to build a load of houses in Headcorn on the flood plain

I don't live there now but i used to and yes, it took me a few years to master that hill.

I wouldn't like to do it now, i prefer undulations

I rode the London 100, shortened to 86 because of the American hurricane and the rain was biblical. Luckily it didn't start until I was about 30 miles in and it was warm. Thousands punctured, including me, thanks to grit being washed into the road. I don't mind riding in rain but wouldn't set out if it was raining.

I remember the day well. Trying to repair a puncture in heavy rain was not much fun and as for trying to get wet Lycra off in the confined space of a portaloo, well let's not even go there
