It's just money for the boys (their girls tag along behind). It's that observation I've made that CC Café has been taken over by retired / semi-retired White Male peeps of a conservative type. And they hate being challenged. 'cos they have no brains.
A tad sexist, don't you think?

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
Why don't you start a new thread in CAD ? Then you can discuss sexism to your hearts content. This is a thread merely about low flying aircraft, and it could of course be any aircraft, not just jets. Microlites have been mentioned, and they're are plenty, of women who fly them
An observation on sexism is not sexist. Remind me again, in 2014, how many women are fighter pilots?

There is a bedrock of unreconstructed 70s attitudes that still harks back to a world of warrior myth-making, patronising colonialism and an arrogant assumption of the UK's position in the world.

Fighter jets and bombers aren't sexy exciting things. They're sordid killing machines which aren't there to stop us being invaded by Ivan the Terrible from the Eastern Wastelands where the cannibals live; they're designed to be sold to tyrants and dictators in shady back-hander deals to keep their peeps in line. They're as sexy as napalm cluster bombs.

However the peeps here may want to reinvent them as instruments of peace, they're not - they're instruments of war and blood, made and used by men, with women who support the thing standing on the touchlines waving and cheering the noble macho warrior. I think the increasing militarisation of the UK is to be decried, not encouraged.
+1!

The best low flying I get to see is off Old Harry's rocks close to Swanage and the surrounding coast the Special Boat Service going through their drills they will parachute to the sea from Hercules or drop ribs from the backs of chinnocks, very impressive to see

That's one hell of a takeaway delivery service. What's the delivery charge? - a tad more than the £5 for orders under £20 that our takeaways impose.

Why don't we give the knee-jerk anti-military, left wing hippy-dippy shoot a miss for a change? Some people don't half want cyclists to live up to their image as lentil weaving beardie douchebags.

Why don't you stop trying to turn every café thread into a clone of Tea? Some people in here have more than one or two brain cells and enjoy making use of them.

Unlike you. You just make sarcastic comments to and about people then bugger off. I have seen many threads where that is exactly what you do, and the people of which there are quite a few who tell you what they think of you, which by the way, isn't much.

Look I know you don't like me, and I don't give a toss, but do stop posting nonsense. I've been a member here for a long time, I take part in lots of debates on here and I post regularly about riding my bikes with my many CC friends. As this is a cycling forum. Now off you go and have a lovely bike ride and calm down.

Point of order, the cycling forums are elsewhere. This is the cafe forum, a shared space accomodating all most interests and thread drifts.

Military?

No. I think they are clubs. Welshpool airport is only about 35 miles away from here. We get paragliders here as well. And light aircraft at weekends all or most I suspect come from welshpool.
