The Now That's What I Call Music compilations were always cramming 25-30 minutes of music onto each side, and as a result they didn't sound too great either.
Their usually dire content probably doesn't help much either...

According to an article in today's Guardian it would seem theres a vast amount of people counterfeit vinyl in circulation.

I recall fifteen maybe twenty years ago, a Manchester record store (forget which one) was found to be counterfeiting rare EDM 12" records; the type where only 500 or 1000 would have been pressed, and flogging them at the price worthy of a rare original.

Didn't know where to post this so here's a tenuous segue...

I got a SpinCare cleaning kit (other makes are available) and am in the process of randoming selecting records for cleaning and playing. The cleaning is working well I think. Sounds quality is much improved. Now the aside point: my last random selection was Siouxsie and the Banshee's live album 'Nocturne'.

A couple of tracks excepted, I'm surprised and how, um, dull it is! Sure, the overall sound quality is excellent, and as a testimony to the show itself (and I was there for one of the nights), it's faithful... but so much of it sounds like they're bored and going through the motions. As a result, many of the songs come over as plodding, lifeless and monotonous - not at all as I remember it.
