A roads to get somewhere, B roads for leisure. I dislike riding on anything narrower than 1.5 car widths and I avoid most dual carraigeways but anything in between is fair game. For some reason I feel happier commuting in all on the 'smaller' surburban roads, but use a big chunk of the A20 commuting out.

It varies depending on what I am doing. My commute is a mixture of main roads and minor roads right down to single track with passing places, but with the exception of one small section of a busy A road, the A roads are all wide and although fast, plenty of room for overtaking or have a decent hard shoulder.

Leisure riding can be anything from smaller/quieter A roads, to B roads to single track country lanes or bridle paths.

My preference depends entirely on whether I am trying to get from A to B as fast as possible or simply out for a ride.
