Yeah I know I'm setting myself up!!! but Mrs BG broke it and the only one I can find that fits cost £269. I could fit a new cistern for less, but it'd be a different size and shape and leave gaps in the tiles on the wall and floor. She's getting a bit fed up with sitting on the porcelain....and has been for the last 3 months:blush: ( getting fed up, not sitting on the porcelain)
Surely a chunk of close grained timber, a jig saw and lots of rasping and sandpapering would do it?? Splinter avoidance could be a problem though........

£269 for a loo seat.....

You could do it, use the brackets off the old one maybe........ lots of work though, but do-able with a quality hardwood, although a piece of hardwood of good quality will be costly.....

One thing I hate about most loo seats...the brackets are rubbish.....drives me mad - that's even with a bog standard loo.

Recently got a new plastic seat (cost £40 but the 'kids' picked it'......) - this time the brackets were fine, but I used some spare metal wing nuts I had, not the crap they give you.

I had the same idea a few years ago, never got any further than thinking about it though.

Should there have been a decimal place between the six and the nine?

A friend collected a load of bits and bobs from tip bikes and she got them made up into a clear resin loo seat for her fella. It looked good but the resin yellowed a bit over time and not through lack of cleaning.

Nope, try googling for "unusual toilet seats", I found the very one, exact dimensions and everything, if you can get excited over bog seat then I was...... till I saw the price. And yes, time consuming, but I have the time but not the money, pity MDF wouldnt work:biggrin:

Curious nothing will fit - how old is the crapper ?

wanders off wondering if there is a market for square loo seats........

Making it out of one piece will result in the wood warping from the alternating effects of your damp and hot behinds! - not mentioning near misses!!

Hmmm just had a thought, maybe 2" square stock glued and cramped up would be stronger.

Pity its not spring, I suggested compost heap but it seems that was not helpful

Dunno. it came with the house so prob over 15 years, no sign of a maker anywhere....

Just get a commode to position over the existing loo

Here's a nice one - probably £10k or so though
