So did "A*****". Maybe we'll have to revise our opinion about that being a pile of twaddle then?

Please don't mention A******* ever again. I have never put anyone on my ignore list. Yet.

Went to see Mamma Mia at the Edinburgh Playhouse with Mrs A. It is survivable which is more than can be said about 'Titanic'.

It's a bit more complicated than that...

Utter tosh IMO, (and Mrs S's)
Treat it as an amateur dramaticals experience - people of limited talent but who absolutely love what they're doing, and put heart and soul into it. Once you get over the squirms of embarrassment it's hugely enjoyable.

Pearl Harbour was always the worst film I had seen for years and years. I never thought anything could ever get as bad or worse as that dross, then I saw Mama Mia. Pearl Harbour has now been relagated to 2nd place, just ahead of Titanic (1997) in close 3rd.

I actually like some Abba, but they have crucified it in that film. I understand that it is just supposed to be camp, girlie fun but I think it's shite. And it's not that I do not like some camp films, The Adventures Of Priscilla, Queen Of The Desert is a film that I enjoyed very much. Great camp road movie with a fun soundtrack.

I'd rather dig my eyes out with a rusty spoon than watch MM, but I have to say I love that assessment of it!

Blimey, this old thread rear's it's ugly head!

Can I suggest Paint Your Wagon? Clint Eastwood and Lee Marvin were made to, er, sing, so I'm sure Jason Statham could be persuaded with a big fat cheque and a licence to destroy anything.

My Dad watches films like that with great glee - the poofier the better with him in fact!

Which brings me to Priscilla - Queen of the Desert. One of my favourite films. Not so much a musical, though.

That reminds me - Pirates of Penzance, starring Kevin Kline and Angela Lansbury.
