After all these years I went over the bonnet of a car today. Prompted by the glorious weather today, I gave the bike its annual wash and clean. I then had to help out down the allotment, (pea nets etc) and then, the extended ride I think.

Shorts and short sleeved top for the first time this year. Factor 30 on head and 15 on limbs. Two bottles filled and off we go.

Only four miles later and I'm on the bonnet of a car wondering if my shoulder is dislocated. The vehicle just pulled out on me; I didn't even have time to go for the brakes.

The point of this thread is to say a big thank you to @Apollonius and his wonderful wife. I had a vague idea of where he lives and knocked on the door to see if I could borrow a phone to call the wife/rescue car. My phone seems to have been a victim of the impact. So something can kill an old Nokia!

I have a very dead leg, bruised ankle and very sore shoulder. I have full if very painful movement so will try to sleep on it before I bother A and E. My shoulders are FUBAR anyway so it is probably aggravated that rather than caused any new damage.

The bike has a buckled wheel and brake caliper. The forks are I fear, toast.

Thanks again Chris and thanks for the lift home.

GWS and as @User13710 said, hope you got details. Money will be needed to check over and repair the bike. I would also get yourself checked over by a medical professional, either your GP or local medical center.

Hopefully you will make a speedy recovery, and collect some cash from said dozy driver to repair your bike. Glad you were able to call on someone to come to your aid, well done them.

Ouch! GWS. As has been said, get properly checked by a&e or a doctor. Involve the police as well, especially as you've been injured.
The sun does seem to bring more of them out, doesn't it
