Sorry to hear about this, but good to see you're getting better, no mention of the driver, any excuses or did they leave the scene?
It's easy "forget" something when the likes of this happen. I'll not knock anyone for not being able to remember what they should do at the time.Forgive me, @Hugh Manatee for answering for you, but I know you are busy today. Hugh was as concerned for the driver as he was shaken himself. He described the driver as "in bits" to me and felt sorry for him. He had also, apparently, dented the Mercedes to a considerable degree. Now, I know that details should have been exchanged and all that, but Hugh was so shocked he wasn't in much of a state to think about these things, so being wise after the event won't help.
I am glad to say he knew there was a bike-friendly house only 300m away and came for help. We were having a bike afternoon anyway as Mrs A and I had been for a short ride out to meet a club ride and say hello (they are too fast for us oldies to ride with). I was also doing some work on a friend's bike changing pedals and cleats for her. Mrs A (who is good in a crisis) sorted out tea and sympathy and Hugh and bike were taken to the next village by car to his home.
I still think the bike will survive. I have bent bikes worse than that and still ridden them, after Steve at Fred Williams has checked it out on the jig and bent the odd bit straight, anyway.
I pushed and got the replacement value as supplied by the manufacturer.GWS.
I'm afraid with getting the bike written off you'll only get the value it is now. I've not even bothered claiming for my fixed as I'd get a few hundred second hand value.

The bike was written off in my case, injury wise no argument you came out worse.Apparently not now. I asked my solicitor. It does pale into insignificance in my case and the bike was actually OK.

But, no good having a brand new bike if you can't use it. Or the old one repaired for that matter.
