Hit a pothole full of water this morning on the way into work and came down hard on my right side.

Just got back from A&E with nothing broken, have got away with bruised ribs and muscle damage around the hip area. Can't walk at the moment, so will probably check the bike over on Sunday.

Hopefully, will be cycling to work again Monday.

I'm just a bit annoyed. I knew there were potholes on that stretch of road, but wasn't concentrating hard enough. When the road is really wet and the holes are full of water, they're a bugger to see.

Get well soon. I just passed some very deep slit like potholes that were dry, in the wet they would be really bad. I am going to report them now.

Worth investing in some Sports Physio sooner rather than later - I popped a rib 10 days ago doing leg presses in the gym, thought it was cracked but recovery time says slight strain. Until yesterday it was till pretty painful but last evening went to see the personal trainer who is rehabbing my ACL reconstruction (He is MSc qualified rehab specialist), and did some upper body mobility and stretching work and today am pain free.

The tendency with cracked or bruised ribs is to move too little and keep the arm across the chest to protect the area from pain, getting movement back as soon as possible is the best advice.

Ouch.

I was pretty lucky when I hit a water covered pothole. Managed not to come off, but did crack the rim of my recently purchased front wheel.

Kissy better!

Whereabouts in Huntingdon did this happen?

In Glatton, in the approach to High Haddon Hill. I'm really annoyed with myself. I've been riding that road every work day for the last two and a half years. I know there are longish, dangerous potholes along there. Arrrggghh!

Pothole? Injury? Compo!

No thanks. There are so many miles of country lanes around here that you can't expect any council to keep them perfectly smooth.

Particularly with the current lack of funds, due to every man and his dog claiming compensation for the slightest thing.

@Drago I spotted the implicit tounge-in-cheek emoji present in your post.

Time you enjoyed wasting was not wasted
Easy done, even on dry roads. Hit a small one myself yesterday when I wasn't paying close enough attention to the road surface. Luckily it didn't unseat me and other than a slight knee jar that lasted a few minutes, I was fine. Hope you're up and pedalling again soon.
