Man hits empty wheelchair...

The young lad sheepishly asking 'are you all right, mate?' and instead of him getting a bollocking, the cyclist simply replies 'I'll just check.' I'd have been livid.
car about to pull across road in front, would you not be covering the brakes and taking a wider position ?
like so many accidents it takes two to tango, idiot pushing wheelchair across road at junction is ultimately to blame, but I'm sure a more experienced cyclist could have avoided the danger without sacrificing speed.
Good point also, I always forget which bars have the brakes on on a tri setup!

However, I still think that had i caught the drivers eyes and known theyd have seen me I'd have had no reason to slow. Perhaps a lot of assumptions on my behalf.

Ride and drive defensively, and everyone is safer. What's a few seconds, it's not a race. The time and money wasted in pointless offs costs far more than just thinking a bit. Everyone makes mistakes, because they are human. Accept that and expect it, life is much easier. here endeth the philosophy comment for the day.

The keyword is cyclist. This fella is a triathlete, as evidenced by his unpleasant sleeveless outfit.

Still, I'm glad he's ok.

Hard to tell how well the rider was scanning cos the camera was on the bike.

No apparent caution approaching a junction, failed to move out for the junction (to return to primary afterwards), and generally looked like he was concentrating on going for it rather than the surrounding environment.

I'm pleased the guy is ok, but can't help thinking he rushed blindly into this one.

Hang on, are we attacking the cyclist in this thread?

Is it because a ped caused it?

Ped > Cyclist > Driver and all that.

I just want to get behind the winning opinion.

Obviously it's the car drivers fault. You can eat foetus's, slaughter puppies, torture nuns, but cock your leg over a bicycle and you're morally untouchable apparently.
