Hello All! Having completed the Manchester to Blackpool at the weekend, in just over 4 hours, I have just entered the Manchester 100 (mile) ride.

Unfortunately, my regular cycling partner cant make it, and I don't fancy the idea of riding 100 miles on my own. So.... Does anybody from here fancy joining me on a mini CC team?

Realistically, I think I can average 15 mph for the day. I did 25 miles this evening at 16 mph average. So I guess this would be of interest to anybody of a similar speed. I am planning a short stop for lunch, but trying to complete the run without any other long stops.

I am also supporting the Steps charity

http://www.justgiving.com/ChrisByrne/

So if you cant join us, any help is appreciated!

Cheers!

I *might* be doing it (not even sure of the date though) but probably just the 100km this year. xx(

Did the 100 miles last year (5hrs 50) but it was hard work and just not that enjoyable... I think around the 60 mile mark is my comfort zone (also less of a full day taken up so it keeps the Wike and kids happier).

It's always the first Sunday in September, hence it's on the 6th this year. Event details.

I think I'll be doing this.

Not making any concrete plans yet though. So far this year every time I've tried to get out on a decent ride something has gone pear shaped.

Ta everyone.

Best advice so far has been, " Do the distance first and then worry about the average speed next time." - luplowe

To be honest, it not the distance or tired legs that bothers me, its getting bored. If you pass a sweaty bloke on an Allez, stop for a chat!

I'll be riding it. I'll have #1 on my back.

Great, shall I keep it between me and you? Don't want the press getting hold of this one...

I entered this morning.

Just debating whether to do it fixed or geared.
It depends on how you are on hills on fixed. Some people will tell you that the M100 is flat - it isn't. It isn't super hilly but there are quite a few little hills at about 8% or so for a few hundred metres.

I rode about 25 miles of the M100 with a man on fixed a few years back. He was young and strong and coped really well with the succession of small hills that we encountered. I was impressed with how fast he was.
