I recall getting big time lost after rding down the a57 (1 eve. summer) then (and this is where it went wrong 
) i turned right over the pay bridge by warburton then made my way over to south warrington THEN got way lost and skirted northwich and zig-zagged my way back to runcorn;
It was a good job it was:
a - summer,
b - warm,
c - lighter in the evening,
d - i had my walkman with us to keep us company
and finally
E - i was having one hell of a great evening/ride/performance (luckily enough)...SO i got back in great shape 4 hrs later..!!!
MORAL OF THE STORY
Always look at a map prior to doing a ride in an area you dont know if you dont know the area...sounds obvious yet it is apparent !
