MAP HELP - Urgent!!

Hello


I have downloaded the Wiggle ride and uploaded onto my Garmin 810 but the map (OSM) Is showing blue and Iam leaving tomorrow (Im not doing the official ride just riding the course)

Can anyone help please?

I googled and found this website

chosen the Generic Routable French Map, currently downloading to my computer EAT 40min
Not sure what to do after -- how to install and remove the current french map I have?? Very confused, or if I have even done the right thing but without a map I ll be stuffed!

Can anyone advice?

I've done a wiggle sportive without a gps and I survuved. There's signs and lots of other people.

I need French Map not UK ??

I use a Mac, and Garmin has "Apps" for managing maps

I presume the same sort of thing is available for inferior operating systems

What maps do you have on the garmin? Are you using OSM UK maps?

If so then you need to download the OSM map for the country you are riding in? Are you riding in France? Your OP is missing quite a bit of information.

Once you put the France map on its usually best to disable the UK maps until you come back. Expect the northern France map to be about 500mb+ so you will need a decent internet connection to download it tonight.

When you copy the new gmapsupp.img file to your Garmin (change the filename to avoid overwriting what's on there) then your Garmin will recognise it. You need to go in to settings, select UK maps and disable. Select french map and enable. I usually just copy the files to the Garmin in windows explorer or Mac Finder.

Do you have a memory card on your Garmin? On mine, I place the gmapsupp.img file in the e:\Garmin folder or however it comes up on your computer. Are you on a PC or Mac computer?

You shouldn't need to delete the UK map, on mine I have got 2 files in the Garmin folder, one called UK_gmapsupp.img and a second file called France_gmapsupp.img

Can you post up the gpx file and I will see how it comes up on min. This is sortable it might just take a bit of fiddling about.

Sorry, just seen that you've got a Mac. In Finder under Devices you will see the Garmin and quite probably a device called NO NAME which is the Micro SD card in the Garmin if you have one. Go in to the device called NO NAME, open the Garmin folder and put the gmapsupp.img file in there. Then when you switch the Garmin on it should find the file and then allow you to enable the file/map.

wow you've got a lot of gmapsupp.img files on there!! they look like they are in the right place, but I should point out that I have an 800 not an 810 but at this level I think they are practically the same. You need to expand the file that you downloaded, i think what you've got there is a compressed file. Expand it and place the resulting gmapsupp.img file in to the same folder as the other files.

Ok that would be my Mimi memory card, I am copying the file in the Garmin folder. May take about 1hr!

What do I do with the Maps already there and the French one, wont it cause any conflicts?
