Having looked at the ones Gaz posted, those are generally just a few feet long. :-) Though cut-throughs can be handy, so I certainly don't dismiss them as useless, but I think I probably won't bother including them in the tour.

So far, it's CS2 from Stratford into Aldgate, then CS3 from Tower Hill out towards Barking and back, followed by Southwark Bridge then Tavistock Place/Calthorpe Street.

They were always going to be sparse, there just isn't the space for much of a continuous network.
That's the excuse we hear, but it's just not true.

Back in the early 60s, Amsterdam was much like London, and you'd have said the same thing about the lack of space. What they did was to remove car lanes in order to create space - which didn't cause chaos because the segregated lanes made cycling so pleasant that masses of people switched from driving to cycling.

He would have said the same about Amsterdam too.

There are plenty of multi-lane roads in London. You take away one of those lanes and turn it into a two-way cycle lane. See any Dutch city for as many examples as you care for.

The alternative is to promote ghettos.
The alternative is to get started. Dutch-quality cycling infrastructure is a virtuous spiral: the more you have, the more people who cycle and the greater the demand for further facilities. What was once unthinkable becomes the logical and obvious thing to do. It happened in the Netherlands, it can happen here.

Ooh, a debate on segregation, super. Although you have set the bar rather high with the ghetto statement, which has me intrigued.

FYI CS2 is only segregated from bow to stratford.

That seems vanishingly unlikely.
Well, it does look like an accident waiting to happen there and it has been there for a number of years. I don't know what the stats are for accidents there so it could be that the drivers are attentive, the cyclists are defensive, my assessment is wrong or there's been lots of accidents. Not sure which (or combination) is true.
