Marin Larkspur- what seatpost size?

I have been GIVEN a Marin Larkspur. A few years old and VERY grubby but ideal as a runaround. The only thing missing is the seatpost. Anyone any idea on size, or should I take it to the LBS for them to advise?

It appears from online pics to be 2001 model. The specs say "diameter unspecified but 2002 is 27.0. This is the bike http://www.bikesdetails.info/bikes/img/2347-large.jpg

The 97 model is 27.0mm according to Sheldon, whereas the current one is 27.2mm

Thanks. I found a 27.2 in my spares box and it won't go in so am gambling it is as 27.0

my early's 90 bear valley is 27 mm if that helps

All sorted, and it is 27.0. I have now got the one that came off the bike. My ex wife's partner had removed it from his bike before giving it to me, but she persuaded him that storing an odd sized post for a bike he had binned was not a good idea. It also has a saddle attached! I did give him back the cheap pedals on it as he wanted them. Fair deal!
