Velo Moira News - serious accident.

On Friday morning Tim Ellis was out riding in Grangewood when a transit van travelling from Netherseal failed to stop at the junction. Tim had to swerve round it to avoid collision but into the path of an oncoming car which hit him.

He has been in the Major Trauma Unit for three days but now is thankfully at home with his wife Sarah where he is now recovering.

Tim has a broken wrist, cheek bone, ribs and vertebrae plus numerous cuts and bruises.

Sara and I will be going to visit him in the next couple of days but I’m sure you’ll agree that we need to give some huge Velo Moira support and wish him all the very best for a speedy recovery.

Tim is one of our most experienced cyclist who rides to a high standard - another reminder of how dangerous it is on the roads.

It's a difficult one isn't it, your natural reaction is to swerve away from the imminent danger, without taking into account that that might put you in further or greater danger. GWS.
