Hi folks Ive ordered a tool for tightening the internal spoke nipple on these wheels i didnt realise the nipple was resessed in the rim and none of my sockets whould make contact.

Anyway I have one particular spoke that is loose real loose I tighten it up at the nipple from the outside but it bites and then loses grip so i guess the other end is turning inside the wheel hence buying a specific tool.

Is there anyhting I should look out for when tightening these wheels ive done a bit of research and think Ive got an idea but was wondering if there were any tips in order to ensure the repair will remain tight and not work loose so quickly (every day at present)

Many thanks

Are you clamping the spoke to stop it twisting while you tighten the nipple? (When replacing a broken spoke on my rear Aksium, I used thin pieces of wood either side of the spoke to protect it from the long-nose pliers I used to grip it.)

Argh good tip I have not been clamping the spoke I attempted it but did not like the way it bent so easily - So should I clamp the bladed spoke and turn the nipple nut (the nipple nut being the outside one?) or must i wait for my tool to come and tighten from the inside?

'I' clamped the spoke on the bladed section, as close as I could to the nipple and tightened the nipple with a normal spoke key (from the spoke side).

I say 'I' - actually, I watched a more knowledgeable mate do the job for me!
