I bought some new Mavic Crossride wheels and they are a bit of a disaster. Not only does the front wheel have some play in the hub (no doubt adjustable), but the rear hub has an impossibly tight lockring thread and -when finally assembled- the freehub slips thus making the wheels unusable. Now obviously I will be tkaing them back to the shop, but I am shocked by all this - I expected more. Are Mavic developing a reputation, are these wheels to be avoided or was I just unlucky? It's crossed my mind that a wrong freehub body may be fitted, but then it also strikes me that these things should be quite standardised, at least as far as threads go. Mavic enthusiasts please comment.
