I bought some new Mavic Crossride wheels and they are a bit of a disaster. Not only does the front wheel have some play in the hub (no doubt adjustable), but the rear hub has an impossibly tight lockring thread and -when finally assembled- the freehub slips thus making the wheels unusable. Now obviously I will be tkaing them back to the shop, but I am shocked by all this - I expected more. Are Mavic developing a reputation, are these wheels to be avoided or was I just unlucky? It's crossed my mind that a wrong freehub body may be fitted, but then it also strikes me that these things should be quite standardised, at least as far as threads go. Mavic enthusiasts please comment.

Front hub is easy to adjust - it's just needs the pre-load adjusting.

Not sure what you are saying about the rear.

Questions:-

1 Have you fitted a new cassette ?
2 If so do you have a new chain ?
