Do we have anyone who would be a mechanics guru on here?

I would like to ask some questions about changing the entire drive on a brand new bike before I make the mistake of buying it an then finding out I cannot do it.

What is the bike and what gear are you fitting? Somebody may have already done what you are thinking about and may be able to help.

I would generally suggest that the cost of the parts alone may not make this economically viable/sensible.

Having done some more research I may have solved the problem.

The original bike I was looking at was a Koga Colmaro Rival 1,

But I see they make. Koga Colmaro Race which uses the same frame but with 105 gearing and 28mm tyres instead of 35mm.

Hi @steveindenmark , as mechanic how can I advise? A drive chain swap is a failry simple process, if approached methodically, so an Upgade is a simpl way to renew a loved frame etc.

Looking at the 2 bike I think all I need to do is change the tyres from 28mm to 35mm on the Colmaro Race. Its a different wheel but the same size as the Rival 1.

I prefer the colour of the Rival 1, but you cannot have everything. This will be Koga number 4.)
