I've read you should put a little washing up liquid in it. Then it tastes nasty when they try to lick themselves clean, hopefully discouraging them even more.

I had something similar when i had an aggressive pet rabbit in the backyard/.garden. One day i thought i'd have a bit of fun.so i kept squirting him. All of a sudden the deranged thing ran at me, bit my leg and squirted pee all over me.

I was once shot in the head by one of those in a fish 'n chip shop in Leeds. I didn't make a fuss, despite it ruining my meal (wet chips aren't great), because as a soft southern bastard I clearly deserved it.
