Membership/Insurence

Hi after some advice i cycle reguarlly to and from work i had a RTC few months ago and in hindsight i should have join a club/membership to have some insurence and legal cover ( doing the claim direct at the moment) and i was wondering what people have and what benifits you get from it.

been looking at ctc or the british cycling club any other ideas...?

CTC, BC or the London Cycling thing.

BC Member here. benefits, legal assistance, 3rd party liability (useful - wing mirrors are expensive).

There's a British Cycling discount code of TforL12 if you take their Ride membership and Quidco/other cashback sites to get a further discount.

Hm, I might do likewise. My last CTC renewal was £34 (?) - looks like I can get the same level of insurance cover for £24 with BC.

Actually, it's £2 ; £24 - £12 for discount code - £10 Quidco.

A year's membership for that seems a bargain.

Google "TFL discount code British Cycling" and it's there. Works regardless of where you are - I used it in August and I'm in Cheshire!

So my BC membership stuff arrived today, but im a teeny bit confused. On the part with the membership card, it says to carefully remove the card and attach my photo, which i guess is for the bronze/silver/gold race license cards as theres no space for a photo anyway? However, the piece of paper is headed with a big BC *Ride* logo, so seems otherwise specific to the "Ride" level membership, so seems odd to mention a photo if it doesnt need one. Can anyone confirm for me please?

I am in LCC, you get liability (so you can cover accidental damage caused to third parties) and a discount at most cycle shops, which pays for the card many times over during the course of the year.

Someone else posted the same question, the same day I asked. From memory, it seemed consensus is that it only refers to the higher level membership cards which include race licenses, as a kind of proof its you who has insurance on race day.
