I can't find the suitable emicon for this, so please bear with me...

I should be sitting here pulling individual petals out of a daisy chanting, I love him, I love him not...

My OH has come home this evening with a present for me... apparently my squealing disc brakes on my mountain bike at the weekend were annoying him, so he has been to the bike shop and purchased me some "no squeal brake cleaner"....

:cycle:

I would have much preferred a box of chocolates or even a meal out... but brake cleaner? :banghead::banghead::banghead:

thank you for listening... <rant mode off>

This thread reminds me of a bloke I used to work with.

Things were tight in the house and there wasn't a lot of spare cash.

His wife's birthday was approaching and she'd been saying for a while that she needed a new iron.

Guess what he got her as a birthday present?

Apparently she wasn't too happy about it.
Years ago, I bought my g/f a vacuum cleaner for Christmas and she wasn't happy about that either!

I could not understand why not, given that she had been planning to go out after Christmas and spend £150 on the same model. The way I saw it - she got something she really needed, and that freed up £150 for her to take to the January sales to buy the things she really wanted. I could not buy those things because I did not know what they were, and every previous attempt to guess had been a dismal failure. Enquiries had been responded to with "Surprise me", so I did!

I turned up on the same g/f's doorstep once, proudly bearing a bunch of flowers and a box of chocs. She looked at the flowers and said that they looked like the cheap ones from the local market (how did she know!), and as for the chocs - sorry, but she was trying to cut down on how much chocolate she ate, so take them away! I decided to give up on such gestures ...

Typical. the guy goes out of his way to get you something useful and you moan. If he'd come home with a huge box of chocolates you'd be moaning about the weight you put on.

My OH was on nights last night. Guess what? He stopped as he usually does when on nights and bought copious amounts of chocolates and cake for the nurses he was on shift with!!!!!
After reading this thread I sent a text saying that the nurse at home would like some chocolate bringing home in the morning. His reply was not positive and I can confirm that he is now snoring upstairs and I have received no chocolate!

I would like this but I'm not certain that would convey my sympathies!

Well if his gf was so rude when he brought her flowers and chox I'm not surprised - she doesn't sound like a keeper!
I was more miffed about the chocolates than the vac. In fact, I was so annoyed that I frisbeed them over the terrace opposite and stormed off. Thinking about it now, it was not the most grown up and sensible thing to do - imagine a neighbour looking up and getting a box of Milk Tray in the face from a great height!:blush:

The neighbour might have thought you were the Milk Tray Man making a delivery, you could have been well in there.
