I get dry chapped skin on my fingertips, from the gloves I wear at work, epsecially when they get wet. I've been trying to remember to use moisturiser on them, but I'm not good at getting in to the routine. I've been using E45 lotion - do you recommend the Norwegian stuff?

The Norwegian stuff is great on my hands when I am out in soggy gloves/diesel/chain oil all day, well at least it stops all the skin peeling off my hand which the wife prefers

Would swarfega work, either as a moisturiser or a shaving gel?

One thing I've found is that not everyone has the same problems, so not everyone needs the same solution. A friend gets E45 on prescription, I've tried it and not only do I find it nasty oily and greasy, it doesn't work for me.

The best stuff for me is Eternal Skincare, which I've been using for several years. Whilst it's pricey, a pot lasts me about 2 years and it's as good as anything in getting rid of the cracked and bleeding skin.

Both E45 and Eternal Skincare are moisturisers, though, whereas Norwegian Formula is more of a barrier cream, to stop the problem getting bad. I use it when I'm heading out in the cold and wet. For your scenario, I would be using the Norwegian Formula daily. You might find that something like Vaseline also works, though.

Thanks for that - yes barrier cream has been suggested. The main problem is that I'm hopeless at remembering to apply anything regularly, so I don't see the benefit.

Time to get more organised anyway, with the cold and wet season upon us.

Tuck it inside your gloves when you take them off and keep it in a pocket when you are wearing the gloves?

Yes, good idea. Or I could just leave some in my locker (well, on my shelf in the cupboard) so that I see it whenever I get in and go home...

Use Avon's 'Skin So Soft' body lotion and it keeps the midges/ mosquitos away too!

A plan without fault!

Yes I do, but not when I have stubble. I'm currently using some cheap stuff but I am after some good quality product, any ideas?

Not yet. I got asked for ID again a couple of months ago, aged 32 . I keep growing a beard too so it wouldn't be easy to apply through all that facial scruff.
