Gospel Oak, London, in fact. Frankly I think we can forgive Mikey the opportunity to trot home between filming these days... after all, the Round the World in 80 Days and Pole to Pole series were fairly arduous challenges.

Just on the topic of slickness/fakery, the reviews of the first 80 days episode were rather poor: it was only when the team started to be more direct and worry less about the crew being in shot and participating in the action that the series started to get some acclaim.

His Eastern Europe thing was partly faked, too. It was edited to make it seem like a continuous journey. In fact after a couple of days in each country, the licence-payers coughed up for him to fly home to his nice comfortable warm home in the Home Counties, till his researchers found some new things for him to see...then he flew out again.

Faked? Did they ever say "This is one continuous trip"? Were we told he'd actually be living out of youth hostels for a month? Does it matter? The people he met and the things he saw were just as interesting.

Arch, you put your finger on the key question in the "fake TV" debate. "Does it matter" that they didn´t get the full truth of the way it was done as long as the viewers enjoyed it ? Well since the fraudulent TV show involving Ant and Dec has just won three awards, it would seem nobody cares at all. (Just joking)
