Mickle's tip of the day - Bolts

Now is a great time to attend to your bike's bolts - while it's still warm enough to hang out in the shed/garage and before they start salting the roads.

Mudguard and rack bolts, stem bolts, wheel nuts and and/or skewers, seat post clamp bolts and seat clamp bolts - unless they are stainless or Ti and screwing into aluminum they have the potential to corrode.

Whip them out one at a time and grease the thread, not forgetting to grease under the head. And wipe off any excess.

Use it as an opportunity to check the bike over before winter sets in.

And, since you've got the grease out, now would also be a great time to grease your seatpost.

Forget Halfords and other car parts places. Get EP2` grease from toolstation, machinmart, screwfix, etc. it is around £2.70 for a 400g cartridge .... industry and agriculture runs on EP2 multipurpose grease in all kinds of load, speed and conditions applications ... you won't find a better all round grease than this for bicycle applications.
