Back on topic (and a bit less f**kin' swearing too), I notice on Wiggle that they have a grease brand with 3 different types:

Competition Campa
Calcium
Aquaproof paste

Not being an engineer, can anyone tell me if this is just a load of nonsense to charge me and make me buy more or are there genuine differences that should concern a keen cyclist like me just trying to follow one of Mickle's valuable tips?

If it helps the credibility of mickle's 'tip of day' threads I bought a Stanley ratchet screwdriver after he bigged them up previously and it's rather good. Credit to him, he is the UK's leading bike expert or something. Maybe.

I don't use grease - WD40 does the job nicely. Works on bike chains and all sorts of stuff...

for anti corrosion purposes vaseline is OK , and you need plenty of that in manchester. specially Canal street.
