Midsomer Norton (Bath and North East Somerset)?

My family are relocating from Norfolk to the Bath area due to job changes. Bath is very expensive and more significantly way beyond our budget. Does anyone have thoughts about the town of Midsomer Norton which is located 10 miles south of Bath? It seems nice enough and much more affordable.

Have you looked at Bradford-On-Avon? Father in law lives there and works in Bath. Its a beautiful place. A bit closer to Bath than Midsomer Norton (fewer murders too).

Worth going there just for the name. Consider also Chew Stoke, Compton Dando, Nempnet Thrubwell etc

My first proper job was in Bath. Dreadful place in the summer, hot, sticky and absolutely rammed with tourists. Most of the surrounding villages were a lot more pleasant and in the <cough> early 70s Midsomer Norton was one of the nicer ones.

Bradford-on-Avon could be an option but housing is not eaxclty affordable there either, as with most of this country.
