I got back into cycling in 2015, and discovered the joys of Strava in 2016. I've got just over 10000 miles recorded since then. I'd love to know my mileage from the 1980s...

I've been looking at my records, I use a simple bike computer and keep spreadsheets on my computer, and I have recorded 48850 miles since 2010, I'm 33 miles shy of 5000 miles for this year so hope to find time for one more ride this year.

Not that reliable for me, the missing years are some of the old school years (1990, 1991 and 2000). So I have 2 decennia with uncomplete records and now 2 with complete ones (I defintely prefer the pedantic definition ;) )

1992-1999: 73470km 45851miles
2001-2009: 68816km 42983 miles
2010-2019: 107891km 67390 miles

Since I started recording my mileage via GPS in mid 2013, I've achieved 16,132 outdoor miles - not a lot compared to some on here, but a figure I'm pretty happy with.

For the period between 2010 and 2012, I'd have to take a bit of guess, but from memory I was almost certainly doing under 1,000 miles a year at that point, plus I had a complete break from cycling for over a year during that period. Meaning I'd assume my total for the whole ten year period is somewhere around 18,000 miles.

I have very similar numbers to many that have been posted already. Since joining Strava in February 2016 I have 14556 miles, no need for any estimation there. During 2015 I was steadily getting back into cycling and I reckon I did another 1200-1500 pre-Strava miles from January 2015 onwards. Before that I was riding a lot less, though I did try from time to time, and I think 17000 miles is a reasonable guess for the decade.

Arriving at a lifetime total takes guesstimation to a whole new level. There were distinct phases, including a decade or so of commuting over the Severn Bridge when I was doing little else with the bike. The figure I've come up with is 90000 miles, perhaps a little less, which doesn't sound an awful lot until I remember it's approximately what Amanda Coker did in a year.
