With us it was on 'tick' Tuesday or Wednesdays purchases paid for on Friday.Paid a little more than the proper shops,but money did not last the full week.

Once the Corona wagon stopped coming around the milk operative offered such. Thinking back that must in itself indicated the milk trade was dropping in the face of the supermarkets. The first American styled superstore opened in Nottingham in November 1964.

Did you lot get brought up in areas where it was too dangerous to have shops. I was brought in Leeds in the 1950’s and I don’t think I ever saw a mobile shop or the like till I saw a mobile library on Midsomer Murders.😉

There was never any danger and of course we had shops, some being just a front room of a house. Often, it was those shops that were doing the rounds in the vans.
