Model aircraft making

I dont know where its come from, but i have a yearning to make a model aeroplane of some kind. I was a member of the school modelling club (50 years ago!) and we built all sorts; gliders of all sizes, free flight and RC, RC planes and those line controlled planes that wizz around in a circle, RC cars, even a hydrofoil boat.

Im thinking to start with a basic rubber band free flight jobby. Like this sort of thing:

been having the same hankering lately, although for model warships - possibly been playing too much world of warships!

I used to have a small fleet of ships with Ark Royal and Graf Spee when I was in my early teens.

They have re issued a lot of older balsa / tissue models from my youth using laser cut balsa. Kiel Kraft and all that.

I made a balsa glider (a Merlin) a little while ago which was fun.

I am moving home. I decided to throw about a dozen of my models away. The oldest was a Folker Dr.1 aka the Folker Triplane. I must have had it 40 years. The only model I kept was an RAF B.E. 2c. This was a biplane from WW1. It was too stable to be a fighter, but it was useful at shooting down Zepellins. There are some decent models in the local shop. They have two Blenheim variants, a Handley Page Hampden, and a Armstrong Whitley Whitworth. They also gave a Fiat CR.42, which was probably the best biplane fighter of WW2. In future I may seek out some of the less glamorous aircraft from WW2, some of the glorious failures. It is odd, but planes like the F35, the Eurofighter, the B2 do not hold much appeal to me.

I would imagine a B2 bomber kit being a top piece and a bottom piece you glue together. Not much else to them

Nice I reckon a high wing job would be more stable though!
