An Ill friend asked me to look after this a while ago. I'm tempted to have a play but the videos of it in "action" suggest it is pretty crappy.

It's movement can be a bit sticky if not used for a while. The oil may have dried out where it's needed.

Saw two of them go this morning for £120 & £180.

Thanks - apparently an after-market fuel tank also helps so I will have a closer look.

The requirement for an explosives license to operate one, on solid fuel, is killing interest in them.

Why on earth would that be needed?

It doesn't even run on solid fuel, it uses gas, as far as I can tell. The same general type as you use for camping stoves and the like.

Change in the law.

OK, yes it is ones using solid fuel tablets that are the issue.

Which are used by a lot of these types of "real steam" models. I thought you were talking about the specific model above, rather than more generally.

I was the Engineer in Charge of those Networkers in my younger days. Anyone want to talk about banjo fittings, or the differences in lifeguards and bogies between the 466 and 465/2 versions? Can also take you to the factory where they made the 240v extractor fans which is a stones-throw from my in-laws. Although wasn't to know it at the time.
