You agreed to a certain amount in the form of a refund, therefore your not entitled to the second cheque. Just ring them and tell them what happened. They will probably just tell you to tear the cheque up.

For someone who earns £120.00 per hour (hmmm) you seem desperate for £53.00 something does not add up also using the excuses you have for keeping the money, just makes you sound dishonest. Asking for opinions as to what to do, then using the excuses you have again for keeping the money, makes you sound like you do not have any conviction of character, I guess if money is your main motivation in life you will always have conflicts of morality.

If you complained to Halfords strongly enough you'd probably get the full cost refunded for their shoddy level of professionalism.

I'm not spending more money and time on calls...I will wait for them to contact me (can't see it happening as they never managed to call when they were supposed to after they failed to fulfill my order). If I hadn't chased, they wouldn't have bothered I expect

There's nothing that annoys me more with a company and that's not communicating as promised. I'd have no job if I was like that with my clients

I don't earn £120 per hour, that's the rate my time is charged at... I wish I have had to work longer hours to make up the time lost to'ing and fro'ing

Pretty strong words. It's a cheque for 50 odd quid from a robbing, dishonest company, not a charity tin she's lifted out of a school. A bit of perspective needed I think.

I got similar treatment from EE, over a contract I never had with them.
Querying why they had sent it resulted in two further cheques being sent. Followed by another, each month, for the next three months.

Well I guess doing the right thing and returning money is an alien concept to some, with dubious excuses to again excuse a lack of morality.
