There may already be a thread for this...but what is happening at the Bristol end of the cycle track near Lawrence Hill. I noticed today a sign saying that the cycle track would be closed here next week for a period of 10 weeks?? Given the fact that the Staple Hill part is still closed appears to be making this journey a rather cross country affair!!

Yes I saw it last week, it will be an improvement afterwards, unlike the current closure which I suspect we are not going to notice that much difference for the 7 months it has been closed.
I have been trying to find out the new route but having no luck there. When it closed a few years ago it was an attempt to get rid of the tree stumps growing under the cycle track and pushing the track out of shape. That unfortunately did not last very long! and the word "botch job" comes to mind
So not only will I have a detour near Bristol City centre but also at Staple Hill (got quite used to Staple Hill and will miss it...yeah right
) At least I note that the all improved Staple Hill extravaganza will be unveiled on May 1st.....including that cute little statue that I noticed has been erected....

What statue? Does it involve traffic cones?
I'll probably leave the path at the point of the diversion and head for the Frome one on the days I'm going that direction into town. I feel happier muddling my way around there as even if I get lost I'll turn a corner and work out where I am.

I seem to have the same issue with the closure signs.
that's the one....must have some deep local significance....of course given the length of time the cycle track has been closed they could have erected any number of statues

It seems this is the closure @runner had seen the sign for. Good that they are widening the path as it can be a danger and a PITA down through Easton. The detour isn't too bad but I may jump off at Morrisions in Fishponds and go straight into town on the roads.
So let me recap. Tunnel closed for 8 months and due to reopen 01/05/2015. Easton section to close for 2.5 months in June?. Bitton to Salford to close for 4 weeks from 19/06/2015. Canal path from Windor Bridge to Green Park to close for 6 months from the end of April 2015.

Just think how delighted you are going to be when it finally is reopened completely!
