I bet that must be how the DM website remains so popular. They publish a junk article and then everyone links to it commenting on how awful it is, BAM more ad revenue for them.

Tominey has done exactly what the guide suggests, even down to the "irrational hatred, mother had affair with cyclist" bit. She mirrors the rest , the "quite like cycling but in the gym" bit. She's copied it to see what happens.
And, the guide writer says, tongue in cheek, that it's all designed to bring out the stereotypes and "them and us" bickering.
It's done exactly that, so Tominey has played the game and won.
