Some of The Smith's lyrics were a bit dodgy anyway:

Bengali in platforms
He only wants to embrace your culture
And to be your friend forever
Forever
Bengali, Bengali
Bengali, Bengali
Oh, shelve your Western plans
And understand
That life is hard enough when you belong here

One people, one land, one bunch of gladioli

As I said, he's looking for some publicity. But using the victims of abuse as a lever is dispicable, he even suggests just about everybody is a pedophile.

"If you go through history, almost everyone is guilty of sleeping with minors. Why not throw everyone in jail right away?"

Apparently the interview has been translated from English to German and back again, but I can't see that things have been lost in translation somehow.
The full quote below:

"Throughout the history of music and rock 'n' roll there have been musicians who slept with their groupies," he said, while clarifying that he was not one of them.

"If you go through history, almost everyone is guilty of sleeping with minors. Why not throw everyone in jail right away?

No, I was in Leeds at the time. I was gutted to miss it, being a big Madness fan as well, but then I read the aftermath in the NME...
I was there, the Rock and Roll earthquake. Morrissey was on a hiding to nothing, the vast majority of the crowd did not want him there. The amount of stuff being hurled at him was phenominal. I nearly got the shoot beaten out of me by a skinhead, I was in the crush singing along and this fella infront turned around and said along the lines of;
"If you carry on I'm going to farking kill you"
I'm quite sure he could have, but not only that, due to the crush my arms were pretty much pinned to my sides where as his, or certainly the right one with the clenched fist was not, it was rather conveniently at around my nose level. Then a bloke behind me said;
"Oi, farking leave him alone, he's just enjoying himself!"
By some miracle the crowd parted slightly at that point allowing me with a rush and a push to get the hell out of Dodge and leave the two monsters behind me to carry on as they saw fit.
Morrissey was always a cock, but these are seriously disgusting depths to sink to to get your face back on the news.

I used to take a more charitable interpretation of the lyrics for that song but now I can't find any excuse for it - it's just plain and simple racism.

Panic is the other oft-cited example. I still think that's a bit more ambiguous but in light of what we now know about Morrissey, it doesn't look good.

It’s (yet another) example of the entire world becoming ‘forum’. Everybody getting professionally offended on everyone else’s behalf. It’s easy to deal with on an Internet forum, you just ignore the poor little darling(s). It’s more difficult to do so in the real world. The whole ‘Kevin and Harvey show’ thing that’s been rumbling on for a while, is a good example. If the complainants has been that bothered about the blokes’ conduct, why not kick off about it way back when the alleged incidents occurred? Oh, I know, because they were complicit, and were not making a big deal out of it, because they were using the situation to get something / somewhere, and now that they have got it / there, or not, and suddenly it’s a big deal. I’m not condoning the behaviour, but really? As soon as the professionally offended sheep, bugger off and find something else to get their frillies in a bunch about, I wouldn’t rate the chances of some of the offendee’s chances of finding gainful employment in the mainstream entertainment industry too highly.

Not the first of my heroes to become zeroes. No, not talking about Aled.

Yep its sh#t and although you can to a great extent separate the art from the artist in most circumstances (especially these days when its so easy to avoid contributing to their royalty cheques), it still hurts when its someone you've looked up to for a very long time. Was gutted yesterday when I read about Nick Cave's comments re playing in Israel.

I don't know who you're suggesting is getting professionally offended by sexual assault?
Isn't this rather the point, if they didn't comply their career was over, if they complained, their career was over. It's an appalling abuse of power.

Marr settled years ago. He's still friends.

They settled with Rourke early on because he was in debt, desperate and couldn't wait for a court case to conclude (which is pretty gross way to treat someone in itself) and he's stuck with £80k and still on 10%. Marr & Morrissey (represented by seperate legal teams) dug their heals in and took it all the way to the high court.

Plenty of people did speak out to have their careers ruined or to be fobbed off and ignored by those supposedly set to investigate.
