I was. Christ...the scariest crowd I've ever been in. I scarpered as quick as I could, but it wasn't easy getting out of a bouncing heaving crowd surging back and forward.
It was nuts, I got to the front for Madness and got thoroughly crushed, called to get pulled out after Our House. Fabulous, fabulous gig.

Get a band and I'll come to your shows.
No way, you've already said I'm going to have an "accident" if I sing in your vicinity.

I'll take you word for it. I heard half of the first song, and with people falling and getting trampled around me I was rather more attuned to staying alive than to a deep critique of the music!!
You mean you actually left the venue? As far as deep critique of the music goes they had the concert on television several months later and it was shoot, being there though, and that atmosphere, well, it's always the same I guess.

There is nothing I have ever liked about this man or his music, nor have I ever been able to fathom why anyone would like anything to do with him.

But, it's the message that needs to be challenged, not the man. People do need to challenge the whole rock n roll life style and decide if they still like it or if it's all a gross crime.

Apparently, Bee Gees fans flock to Cornwall because they can still see Morris Dancing.

From what I have seen, groupies at rock and roll shows just wanna get laid by the guys in the band. Nothing wrong with that! I am an awful slut myself given half a chance. Power rape is a whole different thing.
I loathe the Morrissey/Smiths thing too!

That's the definition of a groupie: someone who wants to sleep with band members. However, not everyone who follows a band is a groupie. I was briefly part of a group that followed a band (no, you haven't heard of them). I don't think any of us were interested in the band sexually. I've also witnessed a 14 year old fending off the advances of a very successful and famous lead singer (yes, you have heard of him) she was a fan of: "get away from me, you dirty old man!"

It can be hard to tell the difference, being someone’s hero is a position of power.

My experiences in the music industry were that a lot of people didn’t care, if someone was up for it, that’s all that mattered. Age, inebriation, marital status, all secondary matters. I wasn’t comfortable with that, nor were most other musicians I knew.

Essentially, in any situation, if you’re a normal half decent person you know not to take advantage of people. End of story.

Also, it ought to be obvious, but an interest in or pursuit of sex with band members does not constitute consent to any particular act.
