I can see both sides here. On the one hand I can see that they may not provide the best value. On the other hand, when my dad passed I was acutely aware that everything was immediately frozen and that my Mum would have been on the financial hook to arrange the funeral as would me and my brother be when Mum goes.
Except, if you look at what they are selling they are not providing a funeral, they are disposing of the body. There is no attendance at the cremation, all just done by their staff at a time of their convenience.

If you want a funeral you still have to arrange and pay for it all, bear the costs, be the "burden" ...

Your experience may be different to mine but my Dad's funeral 'bond' covered everything I hoped it would via a local funeral provide who facilitated most of the tasks required. I doubt it was great value for money but I recognise that there a market for it in terms of the convenience and peace of mind it offered my mother.

Not experience, just the information from the main advertiser Pure Cremation https://www.purecremation.co.uk/timeline

Edit: Not saying people should not buy one as so much depends on individual circumstances, rather saying how the ads are manipulative making elderly feel if they don't they'll be a burden, be taking money from their children, etc.

Ah, I wasn't referring to a specific service, just a vague 'the funeral ones'.

Pure cremation's a very different beast. My brothers in laws side of the family are big into this but they're a small dwindling and rather insular crowd. Suits them, but I think I prefer a little closure with my coffin.
