Bless you Mr Lad. He's a good egg is John. He's 84, just had his knee replaced, but he's a top bloke, and part of a 3-way book club us and another bloke in the village run. We all like books with sex, violence, F15 fighter jets, etc, so we get on just dandy.

That is not too bad a charge. Our trusted mechanic charges just over £35/hr+vat and shows you the worn parts he has replaced everytime. He is very proud of his work and cars but it can be a double edge sword.
When you go in for new track rod ends and come out with new discs, pads, rods and tyres because they are close to the wear limits! Can be expensive but worth it as it gives you peace of mind he did a good job.

Just apropos of MOT testing, I've now taken to using our local authority's MOT test station. Nice people, and you know that the test is straight, or at least untainted by the opportunity to get extra work by, for instance, tipping an advisory into a fail.
