Well what was Lando thinking 🤔 surely that late in the race .

Ok he was quicker than his team mate but not close enough to Max so just accept 5th place.

And le mans was a close finish for le mans we normally get a couple of laps separating the top 3 .

I think Lando's cock up might have been a pivotal moment in the drivers championship. If Piastra takes the 👑 that'll mentally destroy the already flaky Norris and he'll likely never see the big one himself.

Can't say I'm a huge Wuthell fan but he didnt put a foot wrong. Clean, tidy and decisive all weekend. I was all set for an interesting final five laps as Max had closer the gap from almost 4 seconds down to 1.2 and I was wondering if he might have a crack at Wuthell in the closing laps, but the Norris induced safety car put paid to any prospect of that.

Rumours that AM have Wuthell on their shopping list, but if he continues this form Toto Wolllf might do something about getting him re signed.

I think it was a proper old fashioned misjudgement and mistake. He was closer than he thought or catching faster than he thought and ran up the arse rather than trying to make a pass at that point. I think he was getting into position for when Oscar turned right into the kink..

Agreed. McL and Oscar are lucky he didn't end up with damage or out of the race.

Norris is a bit mentally soft as we have seen before with him getting upset about social media posts etc. This crash will already have knocked his confidence and self belief which has already seemingly been hit with Piastra blowing his doors off in a few places.

He'll need a good sit down with someone like Steve Peters if Oscar takes the Championship.

Though it was refreshing to hear him take the responsibility

George is up there with Ricciardo as being over-rated.

On the one hand it was good that he took the blame.

On the other, it was quite telling - actual world chanpions, even the most genteel of them, are more belligerent souls and would only grudgingly accept blame, and even then often only days later.

It says good things about Norris' character as a gentleman, but not so good for his psychological suitability to ever take a championship.

Same here, although Russell managed to time the traffic nicely and had built back up to 2 seconds I think before the safety car. Max might have been able to pressure him into a mistake - we'll never know.

I think it was fairly obvious that it was a monumental cock-up on his part though. Usually that grudging stuff only happens when something is contentious or marginal.

Just seen the news as to what caused Hamilton's problems. He ran over a groundhog. Not sure I've ever seen wildlife be the cause of an F1 problem before!

There have been quite a few actually - it was groundhog day at the Canadian GP as they've been hit before at that track.
The worst was a fatality at the '60 Belgian GP - bird hit driver's face and he crashed.
Johansson (sp?) hit a deer at Austria.
Bruno Senna a dog in Turkey one year.

Ryan and Callum Crowes dad , Nick , lost his arm and his leg on the TT course when a wild animal came onto the road. ( probably a hare ) I agree 100% Norris is mentally weak and will probably remain so. It will cost him the championship . Have to laugh at all the biased Podcasts from UK saying the 2 McLarens collided . They did not. Norris ran into the back of Piastri for a gap that didn't exist. He couldn't pass before his team mate got DRS , he missed his opportunity He lost even more points. Russell is man enough to face up to Verstappen and is maturing all the time . People would nearly dive out of the way when Senna was coming up behind him . Mansell was the skilled Brit who stood up to him on the track . it seems Russell might develop into a latter day version , I hope he does

Apparently groundhogs are a known problem at Gilles-Villeneuve. 2007 Anthony Davidson (race), 2018 Romain Grosjean (FP1), 2022 Carlos Sainz (fp1) and Nicolas Latifi (fp3)

and Christiano De Matta was nearly killed at Road America ( Indycar race ) I think he had brain surgery. It took him years to recover. The photos of the car were sickening .He hit big moose or big deer

There were a fair few track marshals' and spectators hit and killed by F1 cars also. Villeneuve I think somewhere in Italy and a little known one was Dan Gurney , early in his F1 career when his brakes failed totally , flew through an advertising hoarding and hit a poor guy walking along outside. The Mille Miglia 1000 race was pretty bad < i think it was stopped eventually when the roadside fatalities got too much . Coincidentally Le Mans has just finished and in 1955 many scores were killed when a car flew into the crowd , new disc brakes on jaguar caught the driver out and he flew off it , he was driving almost the whole race when it happened. Many more cases also

Rumours that Fezza are trying to lure ChristiAm Horny from Red Bull.

Hes denied that he had any such plans, but danced around the question when asked about a meeting he's alleged to have had with Fezza CEO John Elkann.
