Not sure if this has been posted elsewhere on the site but I noticed on Twitter last night the feed of Gemma Doyle the MP for West Dunbartonshire.

She had pointed out that she had been driving on a dual carriageway and had been behind a Team Wales cyclist who was being followed by his team support car. She appears to be under the notion that the cyclist is fine but the slow moving car is 'endangering her constituents'. She's been at it a week now and no amount of pointing out the highway code to her seems to change her view.

I'm in work so cant bring it up but her handle is @GemmaWDMP

She's only moaning cos its a team Wales car, if it was Scottish she'd be waving at it.

Sounds a bit of an oaf.Probably missing the publicity now that the asylum is on holiday.Pathetic.

I'm guessing she's one of those drivers who doesn't leave lane 1 to pass a cyclist.

Probably this. Good for the cycling community of that area to know their MP is on their side.

She's had a couple of digs at VisitScotland too. One for not doing enough to promote Loch Lomond. She pointed out a Daily Mirror article reporting that delegates from the Games had been taken up to see the Loch. The visit being arranged by, you guessed it, VisitScotland.

Seems the sort would be better remaining off social media.

I think she has a valid point about it being dangerous although perfectly legal , the road in question is basically a motorway without a hard shoulder and I would think any slow moving vehicle would cause problems although I would think Team wales would be doing about 30mph so not that slow.

It seems to me if anyone says something remotely anti cycling people attack them rather than debate what they are saying, not many on her twitter saying it is perfectly safe to cycle on that road .

There are similar roads in Scotland that are not motorways that don't allow cycles simply because it is dangerous for them .
