They did some Neapolitan Bakewells not long ago, very odd looking things.
I 've nearly suffocated on theose Viennese Whirl things they're that dry, horrid stuff.

Oh yes, I don't like them. Like Danish Butter Cookies, in enormous tins, we'd get a pallet in for Christmas, and still be selling them off reduced in April...

Agree with the Bakewells, they are great! Moist, juicy, sweet and everything you want in a cake!

Across a crowded cafe in South Devon, the waitress shouted, "Who's the Mediterranean Tart then?"

To which my wife shouted back, "That'll be me" ... So so proud!

I've heard the huge french fancies aren't the same as bigger versions of the normal ones. As Fnaar ate a whole one can he confirm this?

There was a box of Angel Slices in the reduced section of the Co Op tonight. Didn't buy them but they used to be good for a sweet and sickly bit of cake.

They have jam in the middle I think... it wasn't a whole one, just most of one... burp!

Chuffy and I have eaten most of one as well - Fnarr is correct that the jam makes them taste slightly different, and the icing is more fondanty and firm, the smaller ones have more glace-ish icing.

Unlike Fnarr it was actually my own birthday cake, and not pilfered

As to the OP - Bakewell Tarts!
