the fun of wizzing or more plodding through he snow in Sweden, Norway or Finland just sounds like great fun just search on youtube fatbike and just watch for a few hours and if you have the money it will convert you!I just don't get it. Sure, they look a bit cool and different but I can't think of many advantages of a fat bike over a decent rigid or hardtail MTB. In fact the potential disadvantages far outweigh any possible positives. Apart from cruising the Californian beaches or a bit of Yorkshire bog trotting I reckon they will struggle to match a more traditional MTB.
I believe Ed is using 700x38 tyres though. My road bike runs at 110psi.
if you have the money to buy one in the first place you also have the time and money to fly out to Sweden, Norway or Finland with it!I agree with @I like Skol. They will only ever be fun in very unusual conditions that we will hardly ever encounter. A decent hardtail will run rings around them the rest of the time.
I run my HT tyres at 15 psi or less. It's really not a willy waving contest though @screenman
