Did Saltire to Gargrave and back ride on the leeds/liverpool canal today,just got to Gargrave and the heavens opened so a hasty ride back was in order after a refuel.The going was very slippery and on a couple of occasions i thought i was going in the canal.I was just coming to the end of the muddy sections about 5 mile from saltaire when the back tyre popped,tyre came off and the innertube wrapped itself round the chain set,back wheel locked up and i went arse over tit fortunatly a nice bunch of nettles cushioned my fall (better than going the other way into the canal)
It was sods law that my spare tubes had been used the day before on my front tyre and the wifes rear although the tyre couldent be reused anyway.So i had to walk all the way back.
Managed to get to bike shop and purchased two new tyres along with new tubes but ill fit them tomorrow iam knackered.
